This guide provides information about how communities can implement the next phase of achieving priority outcomes for boys and men of color. It focuses on two critical areas of work: 1) how to conduct a policy review and formulate recommendations for action; and 2) how to develop an action plan.
  • Place matters and the impact of living in neighborhoods of concentrated disadvantage must be addressed in specific ways that incorporate a firm understanding of human development and confront the intersectionality of age, race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status.
  • Communities must review data on milestones and indicators, bring together a team, identify policies, analyze impact, and develop recommendations.
  • Developing an action plan requires six steps: 1) Identify a leadership organization; 2) Broaden constituencies; 3) Establish infrastructure; 4) Target and concentrate resources; 5) Develop an implementation strategy; and 6) Write and disseminate the plan.
